Georgian secretaire chest

Spectacular Georgian mahogany secretaire chest of drawers. The flame mahogany top and sides, crossbanded in Goncalo Alves, over a secretaire drawer with a gilt tooled leather and an arrangement of small drawers veneered in amboyna. A central cupboard, inlaid with boxwood shell motifs, conceals an arrangement of secret drawers. Three crossbanded, cockbeaded drawers below, all fitted with decorative ropework brass handles, raised on inlaid bracket feet. An exceptional, purpose made piece - and even we took a while to find all the secret drawers!
