Antique tricoteuse table

19th century rosewood tricoteuse table. Tray top with a frieze drawer raised on lyre shaped ends. Turned stretcher below and raised on four curved legs.
The ‘tricoteuse’ (french for ‘knitting women’) was a nickname given to women who sat beside the guillotine and knitted while attending public executions during the French Revolution.
