Regency Bracket Clock



Fine quality Regency mahogany bracket clock by Robert Molyneux. The arched case with ebony and brass inlaywork and enclosing the painted dial, with roman numerals, blue steel hands and signed by the maker. The twin-train eight-day movement striking a bell, the back plate etched 'Molyneux, London'.


Circa. 1815.

Robert Molyneux was a renowned London clockmaker, working from Marlybone during the Regency period, studying under Thomas Earnshaw, and produced some of the finest domestic clocks, regulators and chronometers in London. He also made several marine chronometers for Captain Robert Fitzroy who accompanied Charles Darwin on the H.M.S Beagle.
